General description of rotary drum parts washers
BAUFOR's drum parts washers clean, degrease and dry metal or plastic parts in bulk as a continuous cycle. Washing is performed through a combination of spraying and immersion.
The parts to be washed are transported in a rotary drum, loaded at the front and unloaded the rear.
Washing and degreasing of parts in bulk, in one or multiple stages
Drum washers can have one or multiple treatment stages. The different washing zones have separate tanks with their own pumps, pipelines and filtering systems, with the internal design of avoiding as far as possible any seepage of the solution between zones, allowing different products to be used on the same machine.
BAUFOR pass-through washers can include stages such as one or more washes, rinsing, drying and complex processes such as phosphating, descaling or passivation.
Rotary drum parts washers can be fitted with a wide range of pressure pump filters for each of the tanks.
The oil coalescer separates the oil from the clean solution in the tank even if the percentage levels are high.
Parts transported in a rotary drum
The parts to be degreased are transported by means of a rotary drum which is in constant motion throughout the entire process, guaranteeing optimum washing of all parts on all sides. The drum is designed in accordance with the characteristics, dimensions and output of the parts to be washed.
The parts are placed in the loading hopper in bulk, and once their passage through the inside of the rotary drum is completed they are fed out through the unloading hopper located at the rear end of the parts washer.
The rotary drum with its spiral interior design feeds the parts forward until they have completed the circuit.
Accessibility
As on all BAUFOR's industrial parts washers, accessibility is a priority factor in designing a rotary drum washer.
The top covers with removable frames provide completely unimpeded access to the top of the parts washer allowing the drum to be removed for maintenance or replacement. The side hatches facilitate access to the support and feeder rollers.
The loading and unloading hoppers can be removed for access and/or to remove the washing pipelines and the drying nozzle.
The top covers, the side access hatches and the removable hoppers of the parts washer facilitate maintenance tasks.
The side hatches provide access to the support rollers for maintenance, while allowing the outside of the rotary drum to be washed.
The hatches positioned on the aspiration duct allow the inside to be cleaned of water and oil remnants.
Standard features
Stainless steel chip-baskets
After it has been sprayed onto the parts, the degreasing solution passes through a strainer basket, where small solid particles are removed from the circuit. Accessible via the tank lid and easy to clean.
Low solution level shut-off and automatic water fill
The inductive detector maintains the level in each tank between set parameters by operating the pneumatic electrical valve to automatically refill with water. This guarantees that the solution level covers the heating elements at all times.
Vertical pumps
BAUFOR's aqueous drum washers and degreasers are equipped with vertical submersible pumps fitted with a filter to prevent any object which may accidentally fall into the tank (rags, paper, etc.) from being sucked in.
Heat and sound insulation
All our tunnel parts washers are heat insulated as standard to prevent any heat loss, thereby saving energy. Heat insulation prevents the outer surfaces from reaching high temperatures. The same insulation also reduces the sound level generated by the machine, to comply with legal noise standards.
Exhaust fan
The exhaust fan extracts the humid air out of the parts washer, helping to dry the parts and preventing the formation of mist clouds in the loading zone. Once the machine has been installed, it will need a chimney leading to the outside to be fitted.
Drying fan
The fan ensures that the air in the drying chamber constantly circulates. The air is drawn across the heating elements and pumped to the drying nozzles, which in turn direct the hot air onto the parts. In order to reduce the humidity of the air, an adjustable air intake grille is fitted.
Motor/gearbox/variator unit
This is responsible for rotating the drum, allowing its speed to be adjusted. At the axle connection a clutch is fitted to protect against excess strain such as overloading or snagging due to poor loading of parts.
Miscellaneous
Pressure control gauges and valves. Reinforced tank heating elements. Emergency stop button in the loading zone, unloading zone and main panel. Digital temperature controllers. Inspection hatches with safety switch. Drainage valves. Anti-vibration feet. Synthetic rubber curtains.
Optional accessories
Oil Mist Collectors
This extracts the mist from inside the parts washer and uses centrifugal impaction to separate the water, which is then returned to the machine. It does not need any chimney to be installed as the clean air is fed back into the working environment.
BAUFOR oil coalescer
The best method for eliminating large quantities of oil. In a separate tank fitted with a screw pump to prevent mixture and guarantee the oil is eliminated. Considerably lengthens the lifespan of the wash bath.
Wheel type oil skimmer
The skimmer removes floating oil from the degreasing solution, using the continuously rotating disc. Fitted in the tank alongside the deposit to avoid any turbulence caused by the pump. Lengthens the lifespan of the cleaning solution.
Emptying tank
Allows maintenance tasks such as washing the base of the tank to be performed with complete ease. Emptying can be performed manually or automatically. Fitted with induction level detector and pump.
Filtering systems
Our drum washers allow different types of filter to be fitted. Bag, cartridge or single or multiple basket filters. Fitted with a "filter dirty" alert indicator.
Automatic detergent dosing
Injects the desired percentage of cleaning product into the aqueous solution. It works by volumetric proportion, guaranteeing the solution percentage irrespective of any change in pressure or flow rate.
Automatic device and operator panel
Automation of working and control processes by means of a control panel with touchscreen. They typically feature a manual mode, automatic mode, component test, temperature indicators, element programming, etc.
Programmable heating timer
BAUFOR pass-through spray washers need to reach an optimum temperature to work effectively. The programmer can be used to plan the start-up of the heating elements prior to working hours seven days a week.
Any component the client may wish
BAUFOR industrial parts washers stand out because they are designed to measure. Any component the client may wish can therefore be fitted to the parts washer.
